We have a new home! Introducing www.sc2ph.com!

Hello everyone. I’m sorry for the severe lack of updates for the past 2 weeks, I have been busy with personal stuff but I have also been busy working on the new home of Starcraft 2 PH! Please go to this site from now on:

http://www.sc2ph.com – Starcraft 2 PH’s NEW HOME!

When I first created SC2PH the goal was just to deliver the latest news about Starcraft 2 and its impact on the Philippine e-sports scene. But then as I got to post news almost daily, I realized that what I am doing is also for the love of the game. So here I am extending that love by providing SC2PH with a new and better home. It is still the same SC2PH but now it has its very own domain. The reasoning behind such a move is because I can only do so much on sc2ph.wordpress.com. With www.sc2ph.com, I will be able to introduce more features for the site in the future, e.g. better layout, forums, etc. Hopefully this is all for the best. Please bear with me though, as the site is still a work in progress, and I would be grateful for any comments and suggestions about the layout.

Thank you for supporting SC2PH.

P.S. Big shoutout to Psychatog for helping out with SC2PH!

Philippine Matchup: Mineski vs Old School Gaming!

Another matchup between two Filipino Starcraft 2 teams was held last night, this time between Mineski and Old School Gaming. Team Mineski, who defeated team CUBE 2 days ago, consists of some players from the Mski-SC (Starcraft: Broodwar) team along with some new blood. Team Old School Gaming consists of mostly old school gamers as the name suggests, that have experience playing Starcraft: Broodwar and Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne. Some notable ones, markpopo and def, even have WCG experience. So now we have 3 teams for Starcraft 2 that can represent the Philippines: Mineski, CUBE and Old School Gaming. Good luck to the players!

Philippine Matchup: Mski vs CUBE!

Last night two Starcraft 2 teams from the Philippines went head to head against each other in a proleague style match. Both teams consist of some of the best players here in the Philippines and this is a friendly exhibition match to test each other’s skills. There are 4 players to represent each team, each player will be battling a player from the other team. I certainly hope we get more exhibition matches like this to further promote e-sports here in the Philippines. I will try to cast some of the games and upload it to the SC2PH Shoutcast Channel once I get the replays from the players.

Read on to view the rules and the results of the matches.

Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty Invitational Tournament for SEA!

Holy crap! Blizzard is going to hold an official tournament for SEA/AUS/NZ! They will be selecting the top 16 Starcraft 2 players from South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand to participate in the SEA region’s first official Starcraft 2 online tournament. The grand prize is $3000 and the first- and second-place winners will be invited to go to BlizzCon 2010 in Anaheim, California! This is a good chance for SEA players to step into the limelight by proving themselves on the international stage, and I certainly hope we can have someone from the Philippines make it to the top 16. Time to practice!!!

Official Blizzard announcement after the cut.

No New Client Needed for NA Access

It looks like we don’t need to have a separate installation of Starcraft 2 for the NA access after all. Blizzard announced that choosing between the SEA and NA servers would be through either an in-game selector or a small program that will enable our SEA clients to connect to the NA servers. This is progress on their part, as many people are really experiencing latency issues connecting to the SEA server.

SC2PH Shoutcast Channel!

Hello everyone. SC2PH is proud to present to you its very own shoutcast channel in Youtube. The SC2PH Shoutcast Channel will be giving you shoutcasts of games played by both Filipino and international players. The games will be casted mainly in the Filipino language, with some games casted in English. The caster will be me, Jairu (schezcake), and this is actually my first attempt at shoutcasting so please bear with me as I improve on my skills as a caster. I am open to comments, suggestions, etc.

Currently there are 8 initial casts posted on the SC2PH Shoutcast Channel, mostly coming from the MPOT held by Mineski. I was supposed to cast all games from the Ro32 but decided to skip most of it and move straight to the Ro16 since the games were done last weekend. Also, right now the quality of the videos might not be up to par with other famous shoutcasts, the first 7 casts are low quality, but hopefully the 8th and latest cast should be more tolerable to the eyes. Let me know what I can improve on in terms of sound and video quality.
